GEOTECHNICAL SITE INVESTIGATION

Terra Firma (South) has extensive experience of geotechnical and geo-environmental investigation of brown field sites. This allows developers to comply with both the requirements of Local Authority Planning Departments, and the Environment Agency.

CASE STUDY: Brazen Island Quay, Fowey, Cornwall

Terra Firma (South) acted as geotechnical contract engineers for the redevelopment of the Brazen Island Quay. The development aimed to repair the current quay wall to cope with a new larger crane and with the view of extending the quay toward the north in the future.

In order to confirm the underlying ground conditions, and the structural makeup of the existing quay wall, a ground investigation comprising five rotary dynamic sampled and cored boreholes and six horizontal concrete core holes was carried out.
